Bandwidth Scaling for Fading Channels

چکیده

The issue of bandwidth scaling has always caused some confusion for channels subject t.o additive white Gaussian noise plus multipath fading. On the one hand, there is an old result (see, for example, section 8.6 of [I]) saying that the capacity of the channel (under 2 power constraint but no bandwidth constraint) is the same as the infinite bandwidth capacity of the non-fading additive noise channel with the same average received power as the fa,?ing channel. On the other hand, it appears intuitively that when a CDMA system is spread t-oo widely in bandwidth, it become~ increasingly difficult for a, rake receher t;) measure the channel and ccrrcspoadiEgEy d!Ec take p!;ece. A Blind Hammerstein Diversity Combining Technique for Flat Fading Channels

Diversity combining techniques play an important role in combating the destructive effects of channel fading in wireless communication systems. In this work we present a blind diversity combining technique for Rayleigh flat fading channels based on Hammerstein type filters. We show that the performance of this technique is very close to ideal MRC system which is accepted as an optimum receiver ...

Fade depth scaling with channel bandwidth

Introduction: Multipath propagation in wireless channels causes random fluctuations in the signal levels, leading to small-scale fading and system outage [1]. Recent research has analysed the impact of channel bandwidth on fading using information theoretic and statistical approaches. For example, an increase in the stochastic degrees of freedom with bandwidth in frequency-selective channels ha...

Using WPT as a New Method Instead of FFT for ‌Improving the Performance of OFDM Modulation

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is used in order to provide immunity against very hostile multipath channels in many modern communication systems.. The OFDM technique divides the total available frequency bandwidth into several narrow bands. In conventional OFDM, FFT algorithm is used to provide orthogonal subcarriers. Intersymbol interference (ISI) and intercarrier interferen...

Bandwidth Efficient Signaling Using Multiscale Wavelet Functions and its Performance in a Rician Fast Fading Channel Employing Differential Detection

In this paper, orthogonal wavelets are employed to produce multiscale signaling. It is shown that signaling using these functions is bandwidth efficient compared other signaling schemes, including SFSK and GMSK. For signaling in Rician fast fading channel, it is also shown that scaling functions is superior in term of achieving low level of probability of error. Even for multiscale signaling, t...

Energy Detection of Unknown Signals over Composite multipath/shadowing Fading Channels

In this paper, the performance analysis of an energy detector is exploited over composite multipath/shadowing fading channels, which is modeled by Rayleigh-lognormal (RL) distribution. Based on an approximate channel model which was recently proposed by the author, the RL envelope probability density function (pdf) is approximated by a finite sum of weighted Rayleigh pdfs. Relying on this inter...
